Rainy night in Bangkok’s Chinatown.
Going into a Lakota sweat lodge under the scorching sun of the Derramadero desert in Coahuila, Mexico.
SUN CROWN- Ten years ago I found something that looked like a road to consciousness, a place of truth. A vehicle to a better self. It presented itself in all forms of hardships and pain in the middle of an arid land with little to no resources but stringed together with a golden combination of discipline, tradition and faith. What is it about extreme weather; scorching under the sun and working the Fire, eroding with wind and dirt, tempering in freezing cold nights, sleeping on hard terrain and ultimately facing the solitude of a fasting retreat for days with no food or water, with just yourself to contemplate?
Sun Crown is my exploration into the world of Viento Solar a group following in the Lakota tradition, based in the Mexican northern desert of Coahuila and the people that come to it from all walks of life and stay. This is a work in progress.
